The Pine Valley Apartments are pleased to provide a fitness room for members of our apartment community — so there’s no need to pay for a gym membership here in Elkton, MD. Today we’ve got some tips for using it to maintain a healthy lifestyle.
Track Your Progress
Keeping track of when and how much exercising we actually do helps us stay motivated and can help us to keep our goals in sight. Devices such as a Fitbit, phone apps, or even a little notebook, all work to track exercise. Looking back and seeing the progress you’ve made on your fitness goal can be very gratifying.
Accountability helps us maintain a successful exercise routine. For some people, simply keeping a record of workouts is enough to stay motivated, for others, however, it helps to have a friend or family member hold you accountable. Finding a workout buddy to go to the fitness center with, can prove helpful by creating an additional incentive to go to the fitness center when you’re tempted to blow it off. If you know your buddy is going to be knocking on your door, you are more likely to get yourself out of bed at o’dark-thirty to exercise.
Rewards are a strong motivation, and in many instances, they can be an effective tool to help you maintain a consistent workout schedule. What form the reward takes isn’t as important as simply creating a reward. Rewards can range from enjoying a healthy post workout snack to watching an episode of your favorite TV show, to giving yourself equal time gaming, or even just paying yourself every time you work out. Add a dollar to a workout jar every time you make it to the fitness center, then at the end of the month purchase something you’ve been eying for some time.
