Create a Fairy Garden for Your Balcony or Patio

Pine Valley Apartments Blog, Elkton, MD Create a fairy garden to put on the balcony or patio of your apartment. Check out the ideas we have to make one in today's blog post.

This month, the Pine Valley Apartments Blog is brining members of our community a whimsical DIY project that is perfect for spring — fairy gardens! Create a fairy garden to display on your patio or balcony. The fun part is you can let your imagination run wild to make a miniature wonderland. We have some ideas about what to include and where you can get supplies in Elkton or online.

What to Include

When it comes to creating a fairy garden, the first step to take is to figure out where you are going to put it. Choose some sort of container that provides clear boundaries and makes it easy to see the tiny details of your creation. It could be a plantar, an old bird bath, a glass fishbowl, or even something you have in your apartment that could be repurposed.

They key thing to remember when it comes to what to put in the garden is to think small. Try to choose pieces that are in the correct proportions to each other — otherwise, it may look like you’re trying to channel Alice in Wonderland after she drinks the shrinking potion. Doll house furniture is a good option. Nut shells, twigs, pebbles, and bark can all be used in your fairy garden. Have fun and be creative as you go about making your masterpiece. Be sure to leave room to add the fairies!

Where to Get Supplies

You may want to keep it simple and purchase a fairy garden kit or check out all the delightful items you can find at online shops such as Miniature Garden Shoppe or Oriental Trading.  Locally, check out your favorite dollar store or visit one of these shops to see what you can find for your fairy garden:
